Partners in Education Transformation
Cisco, Intel, and Microsoft are working together to support global education reform by mobilizing the international educational, political, and business communities to help transform the teaching, learning and measurement of 21st Century skills.
The companies are asking private and public sector organizations and leaders to participate in the development and adaptation of existing international assessment standards. This will help more accurately gauge progress in math, science, reading and a broader set of 21st century skills that students will need to be successful knowledge workers and global citizens.
For more information about getting involved in the project, please contact the project director, Barry McGaw, at the University of Melbourne.
Programs focus areas
The companies will focus on several key areas that offer the most promising opportunities for transforming education and measuring skills needed by future workers. Our joint efforts will include providing financial and technical support for:
| • | Researching education assessment and effective learning environments |
| • | Showcasing models that overcome barriers and scale success |
| • | Promoting awareness, value and relevancy of preparing education systems for today’s learner |

Cisco, Intel and Microsoft each have a long history of supporting education initiatives and share a common goal of helping to reform education systems throughout the world. The three companies have worked together successfully in the past with other organizations to support education reform, an example is the UNESCO ICT Standards for Teachers.
We encourage others to participate and believe that collectively we can have a greater impact when it comes to scaling education transformation. Together we can deliver a more efficient response to the needs of our customers, particularly governments, as they seek greater effectiveness, and simplicity, in their partner relationships.
