Policies allow you to control what kind of information syncs to the mobile phone as well as the password policies of the phone, what apps can (and can’t) run on the device and what communications can originate from the phone (SMS, IR, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.). AutoDiscover functionality in Exchange Server means users just need their username and password to set up their phone and get Exchange ActiveSync working. If a user has forgotten their PIN, a user can request a PIN reset and get that information just by using their phone and OWA, no help desk call required.
