Exchange ActiveSync® allows your organization to make your workers more productive enabling you to control costs and provide protection for sensitive information. A great mobile messaging system not only needs great user features, it needs great administrative features to lower costs and provide security controls. From controlling the amounts of information a user can sync, which devices users can connect, whether or not users can read attachments, which applications their device can run and even what part of their hardware (like a camera or Internet Connection Sharing) devices use, Exchange ActiveSync is a low-cost way for you to give your users powerful features and device choice while offering you security management features.

Don’t pay extra for mobile e-mail
Exchange ActiveSync is part of Exchange Server so users who already connect with Outlook, or Outlook Wed Access, already have everything they need to go mobile. You don’t need more CALs, more servers or more training; Exchange ActiveSync helps you accomplish more with less.

Don’t risk downtime at the hands of others
Exchange ActiveSync simplifies your infrastructure. There is no need to add additional servers for mobile users of Exchange Server, and that means no additional point of failure. There is no need to worry about 3rd party Network Operations Centers (NOCs) having downtime that can leave your users without access and your helpdesk with no way to solve the problem.

Exchange Server grows with you
When you use Exchange ActiveSync as your mobile e-mail solution you get scalability built in. No longer will you need to buy more e-mail servers just because your mobility server is degrading its performance.

You’ve already got enough to manage
Exchange ActiveSync functionality is already built into Exchange Server so there are no additional servers to maintain, upgrade, patch and learn how to interact with. No need to learn new technologies or software packages.

Bring law and order to your mobile employees
Mobile devices can do lots of great things for users, but they can also be another area of malicious programs can get into your enterprise; or take data out of your enterprise. Exchange ActiveSync offers many different mailbox policies that are designed to give you control of the devices that connect to your Exchange Server. Policies allow you to control what kind of information syncs to the mobile phone as well as the password policies of the phone, what apps can (and can’t) run on the device and what communications can originate from the phone (SMS, IR, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.). You can even control physical pieces of the hardware of the device to do things such as stopping the camera from being used.

Lost devices don’t mean leaked information
It’s a fact of life that people lose their phones. Just because a phone has been lost, doesn’t mean that your data is at risk. Exchange ActiveSync has several ways to remotely wipe the phone's memory so that your information can stay protected. Administrators can wipe a device from the administration console, help desk personnel can use the Mobile Administration Web Tool and even end users can access Outlook Web Access to wipe their device.

Help Your users help themselves
End users don’t have to call the help desk for issues like forgetting the PIN to their phone or connecting their phone to Exchange Server. AutoDiscover functionality in Exchange Server means users just need their username and password to set up their phone and get Exchange ActiveSync working. If a user has forgotten their PIN, a user can request a PIN reset and get that information just by using their phone and OWA, no help desk call required.

Keep away prying eyes
Exchange ActiveSync lets you control the data protection in your organization. Exchange ActiveSync provides S/MIME mail encryption and digital signatures, up to 256-bit AES encryption of data over the air and local memory/storage card encryption (all controlled by IT policies).

Device choice
Exchange ActiveSync lets you choose which devices are right for your organization. Beyond the 160+ devices that run Windows Mobile, Exchange ActiveSync comes enabled on select devices from our partners including: Palm, Nokia, Apple, Sony Ericsson, Helio and more. Additional devices are supported though software downloads from some of our software vendor licensees.

Connect multiple devices
With Exchange ActiveSync you can control what devices connect to which users. You can let a user connect as many devices as they want to their account or lock them to a specific device. The control and the flexibility are up to you.
