World’s largest technology company and No. 1 software provider plan to advance cloud computing with industry’s most integrated technology stack.
HP and Microsoft Corp. today announced a three-year agreement to invest $250 million to significantly simplify technology environments for businesses of all sizes.
The companies plan to deliver new solutions built on a next-generation infrastructure-to-application model, advancing cloud computing by speeding application implementation, eliminating management complexities and automating manual processes to lower the overall costs of IT.
This agreement represents the industry’s most comprehensive technology stack integration to date—from infrastructure to application—and is intended to substantially improve the customer experience for developing, deploying and managing IT environments.
Under the terms of the agreement, HP and Microsoft will collaborate on an engineering roadmap for data management machines, converged, pre-packaged application solutions, comprehensive virtualization offerings and integrated management tools.
Additionally, to reduce the cost and complexity of virtualization, HP and Microsoft will bridge the gaps between technology silos with the industry’s most comprehensive virtualization and management solutions that build on existing investments in the data center. These include:
HP Converged Infrastructure teamed with Microsoft Hyper-V and applications
Businesses can improve server utilization, decrease implementation time of virtualized IT services, and reduce network and cabling infrastructure costs with new integrated virtualization solutions.
Heterogeneous data center management solutions for virtualized environments
Improved administrator productivity and simplified management are delivered through deep integration of HP’s Insight Software and Business Technology Optimization solutions with Microsoft’s System Center suite.
Virtualization “Smart Bundles” for small-midsize businesses (SMBs)
Simplified purchase, setup and maintenance of a virtualized infrastructure is provided through “Smart Bundles” that combine the required hardware and software components in a single cost-effective package.
These solutions delivered by HP and Microsoft will protect customers’ current technology investments, while enabling them to leverage next-generation application models that combine on-premise computing with cloud-based services.
