Using Windows Media Player 9 Series, you can burn (copy) a mix CD that contains your favorite songs in just two steps. First, you create a playlist that contains the songs you want to burn, and then you burn an audio CD of the songs. The mix CD that you create should play in any standard CD player.
To create a playlistIn the Player, click Media Library, right-click My Playlists, and then click New. In Playlist Name, type the name of the new playlist. In View Media Library by, click the category you want to use to find songs you want to add to the playlist. Navigate to a song you want to add, and then click it to add it to the playlist. If you want to select a song that isn't in Media Library, you can also navigate to a folder in Windows Explorer, and drag a song from the folder to add it to the playlist. Tip To select several songs at once, press the SHIFT key, and then click the songs. Use the arrows to move songs up or down so that they appear in the order you want them to play on the CD, as shown in the following screen shot. After you have created a playlist of songs you want to burn, the next step is to burn the songs to an audio CD.
To burn an audio CDIn the Player, click Copy to CD or Device. - or - On the File menu, point to Copy, and then click Copy to Audio CD. In the Items to Copy pane, select the playlist you want to burn to a CD. The number and total time of the items in the playlist are displayed at the bottom of the Items to Copy pane, as shown in the following screen shot. Insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW in your CD-ROM drive. (For maximum compatibility with home, car, and portable CD players, it is recommended that you use a CD-R disc.) In the Items on Device pane, click your CD-ROM drive, and then click Audio CD, as shown in the following screen shot. If Will not fit appears in the Status column in the Items to Copy pane for selected tracks, clear the check box, as shown in the following screen shot. Note Will-not-fit status means that the song will not burn to the CD. This warning appears even if the audio you selected exactly matches the CD length, because the Player inserts a two-second gap between the songs that are burned onto the CD. Click Copy. Keep the following points in mind when burning a CD:We recommend that you do not try to perform any other actions while burning a CD. For example, playback may be affected if you try to play an audio CD while burning a CD. You cannot burn additional tracks to the CD after burning is complete. If you are using a CD-RW, you can erase the entire CD before using the Player to burn tracks to the CD again.
